Situation
During my first semester as a graduate student in geography, I was enrolled in a course entitled Geography 597: Terrorism and Resistance. We were asked to write a paper and present the information on a topic of our choice which involved either terrorism or resistance. I chose to study the Roma (or Gypsies) to demonstrate how this culture resisted assimilation into mainstream society. The presentation link below is what was shown to my classmates during our final presentation for the course on 09.December, 2004.

Reflection
Due to the technology, this presentation was very successful and engaging. Photos showing how the Roma lived and the harsh environmental conditions were shown through these graphics and inspired many questions and responses from classmates. These strong reactions would likely not have occurred through the use of a simple oral presentation. Technology in this case was able to effectively bring the audience closer to the Roma culture through the use of this PowerPoint presentation.
