Evaluation & Reflection

In my two years as a TA, I have attempted to use technology in the classroom both efficiently as well as effectively. Online information (e.g. grades, feedback, visual instructions, etc.) was purposefully disseminated in such a way that all students could get the information they needed at their own pace, and therefore in an efficient manner.

Effective use of technology was my second goal as a TA. I made sure that the format was easily accessible, whether in the form of a PDF file, Word document, or through ANGEL. I also ensured that the information was clear and concise. I viewed technology as having a supporting role in my teaching, and not as a replacement.

Teaching with technology has been rewarding, especially when students are able to use it to help themselves and others.

I learned a lot through teaching with technology. I learned that it does not always work for everyone, but it works for many. I learned that technology cannot be a substitute teacher, but rather an additional teacher. I learned that through the use of technology, e.g. grades posted on ANGEL, students take a bit more responsibility for their own education and learn to become independent thinkers and learners.

All in all, teaching with technology has been truly advantageous to me as an educator and I am lucky to have learned these skills. Looking ahead, I am eager to apply these technology skills in my future career.
